This is an entry level position. At the full performance level, you will: Perform sampling, testing, and reporting necessary to comply with the State of Arizona ground water
protection, potable water system permits, plant discharge permit, state and federal laws, an international
treaty, and to support advanced water treatment research. Analyze surface water, groundwater and return flows to support operation of the Colorado River system
below Hoover Dam. Conduct analyses in accordance with standard methods and procedures for examination of domestic and industrial supplies, surface waters, groundwaters, cooling waters and circulating water, boiler water, boiler feed water, wastewater effluents after verifying degrees of treatment, and untreated municipal or industrial wastewaters.

TIME IN GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b). Applicants eligible under the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) are not required to meet time-in-grade restrictions in order to be considered. Applicants may be required to serve an initial probationary period. If selected, the selectee will be required to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying to his/her ability to perform the duties of this position. A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency. The selectee must maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times as the position requires operation of government vehicles on government and public roads. Failure to maintain a valid State Driver's License at all times will result in removal from the position. Due Weight Consideration: You must submit 1) a copy of your most recent performance appraisal/evaluation and 2) a list of any awards (e.g. superior performance awards, special act or achievement awards, quality step increase, etc.) you received in the last 5 years. Any performance appraisal/evaluation and award documentation you provide will be forwarded to the selecting official. The selecting official will review this documentation and give it due weight consideration during the overall selection process. If you do not have your most recent performance appraisal/evaluation, please submit a statement as to why it is not available. To qualify at the GS-05 level, your resume must reflect one year of full time experience assisting with collecting or evaluating water, soil, or plants in a laboratory or field environment; recording or analyzing scientific data; and operating standard scientific equipment or performing scientific techniques.
OR Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of physical science, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics. If using education to qualify, you must submit transcripts. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Applicants will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
