Xanterra Travel Collection Tool Room Attendant in WILLIAMS, Arizona


This is a full time position at the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel located in Willliams, AZ. The Tool Room Attendant is responsible for, cleaning and maintaining tools, keeping records of tools, Maintenance Fleet, and inventory control within the tool crib, and Stock Rooms to prevent shortages, and maintain an accurate inventory.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Fully understand and support Xanterra Mission Statement and Core Values.

  • Manages, plan and organize work in a detailed fashion, with the capability of multi-tasking.

  • Recognizes equipment safety hazards and correct unsafe situations immediately

  • Establishes and maintain an effective professional working relationship with staff, co-workers, directors, and other departments; by working together in a positive work environment.

  • Communicates professionally using company radio system and conform to standard radio operation rules

  • Assists in compliance with all prescribed Company, statutory/regulatory policies and procedures regarding worker safety, vehicle operation, risk management and updating all maintenance related Safety Data Sheets.

  • Maintain a daily routine that keeps the tool room and supply area clean, orderly, safe and secure.

  • Communicates with Facilities Maintenance Systems Supervisor and/or Facilities Manager, and co-workers regarding guests’ concerns or complaints, employees’ issues and/or concerns; maintenance repair needs; and suggestions for improvement on the efficiency and operation of the business unit(s).

  • Responsible for communicating with co-workers for issuing stockroom parts and maintaining an accurate inventory.

  • Operates within the INFOR/EAM maintenance tracking system ensuring accurate input, format and tracking through the system, with accurate and grammatically correct information for parts description, supplier, and other information as required.

  • Under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Systems Supervisor, oversee stocking, tracking and issuing of tools and materials with the objective of reducing loss and assure operational costs and conform to budget limitations.

  • Under the direction of Facilities Maintenance Systems Supervisor ,assists trades in researching part information to prepares orders accurately with proper quotes.

  • Responsible for ordering supplies in a timely manner to ensure critical parts are available, on-demand for equipment identified as a critical need.

  • Under the direction of Facilities Maintenance Systems Supervisor , receive all orders; check delivery items with invoices and ensure proper handling, quality of product and stocking. Creates purchase order receipts when material has been verified, and in a timely manner issues parts to Facilities Maintenance Manager.

  • Responsible for preparation and support of biannual stockroom audits.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of or exposure to a wide variety of tools and equipment with basic knowledge of hand tools, electric power tools, their use and application with ability to identify commonly used maintenance parts such as plumbing, electrical, mechanical and grounds materials.

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills to include (MS Office Suite-Outlook, Excel, Word & internet search) with ability to learn new systems.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • A valid Arizona driver’s license and ability to comply with Xanterra/GCR company vehicle policy.

  • Previous tool room experience

  • Previous experience with INFOR computerized or other specific Maintenance Management System.

    Basic Competencies:

  • Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications, follow detailed directions)

  • Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)

  • Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work as needed.

    Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly standing, walking, Pasitting, balancing, climbing, twisting, eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity, handling, wrist motion, bending/ stooping, ascending and descending ladder.

  • Trunk Strength-The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without giving our or fatiguing.

  • Static Strength-The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects.

  • Constant carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 10lbs.

  • Frequently carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 25lbs.

  • Occasionally carrying, bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling items weighing up to 100lbs.

  • Constantly listening, hearing, seeing, and speaking.

  • Will be required to stand and walk for long periods of time on cement floors and to occasionally walk on uneven surfaces.

    A uniform is provided for this position. Footwear will be provided by the employee and must provide support for the arch of the foot and have a well-defined heel and be sturdy.
