Job Designation

The FAA Product Repair Technician performs inspections, tests, troubleshoots and repairs on customer returned equipment, in accordance with rules and regulations. Provides an efficient and effective repair service that meets company and departmental obligations and objectives.

Job Core Responsibilities

• Ability to utilize manual and automated test equipment to test and troubleshoot digital and analog circuitry. • Ability to read schematics and understand the circuit function. • Must be able to troubleshoot problems to the component level. • Must be able to communicate fluently in technical terms both verbally and in writing. • Complete work according to instructions, specifications and procedures, with limited supervision. • Must be computer literate. • Position requires overtime to production schedules and demands. • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation. • Maintain an acceptable safety record. • Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and procedures. • Perform maintenance and alteration tasks in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ instructions for continued airworthiness, services bulletins, service letters, airworthiness directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA. • Properly record the work performed on the appropriate maintenance record. • Willing to learn to test and troubleshoot various products as required. • Completes necessary trainings to maintain knowledge and skills required for job performance • Other responsibilities as assigned • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations. Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field Years Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience


  • Excellent technical knowledge and skills in product repair

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal

  • Proven troubleshooting skills to component level on complex electronic circuits

  • Ability to recognize and solve typical problems that can occur in own work area; evaluates and selects solutions from established options

  • Computer proficient

  • Ability to record and enter data into an excel spread sheet, and communicate via e-mail and Microsoft word

  • Is proficient in using the tools, equipment, and inspection aids applicable to the scope of work assigned.

  • Able and willing to comply with Drug-Free Workplace policies and pass all related drug/alcohol screenings

Physical Requirements: • Approximately 80% sitting and 20% standing/walking about in-door Company facilities. • Lift and Carry up to 45 lbs. • Use hand tools, and power tools. • Use head and neck in static position, looking up/down and side-to-side. • Perform major hand grasping and fine finger manipulations using both hands. • Perform light lifting from floor, table and shelf. • Push and pull carts or mobile tables, loaded and unloaded. • Minimal: heavy lifting from floor or higher, bending, twisting, climbing, lifting arms above shoulders, kneeling. • Minimal: exposure to excessive noise, hazardous chemicals, hazardous equipment, uneven walking surfaces
