Description

World-renowned residential treatment center seeking a Primary Therapist.

A Primary Therapist is mainly responsible for diagnosing and treating mental and emotional disorders—whether cognitive, affective, or behavioral—by applying psychotherapeutic theories and techniques in the delivery of treatment services to individuals and families. The essential functions of a Primary Therapist include:

  • Providing psychotherapy services to patient as scheduled.

  • Conducting individual, group, or family therapy sessions as appropriate for the treatment plan of the patient.

  • Providing initial treatment planning for patients based on initial assessments and coordinating any additional services needed with revisions as necessary.

  • Maintaining documentation of therapy services provided to each patient according to facility and professional standards, revising as necessary.

  • Maintaining assigned caseloads.

  • Participating in treatment team meetings and collaborating with other staff to facilitate services for the patient in accordance with their treatment plan.

  • Providing these services in inpatient or outpatient settings.

  • Providing case management, discharge, or after-care planning as needed.

  • Assisting in educating and training staff on behavior management or therapeutic crisis intervention.

  • Coordinating various clinical, psychosocial, and educational activities with patients and their families.

  • Evaluating patients needs and determining if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed.

  • Assisting in the training of new clinical staff and interns.

Qualifications/Preferences

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other recognized therapeutic field from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of four-plus years’ experience as a therapist with two or more years of experience working with a comparable patient population.

  • Current state licensure for professional providers required or eligible for licensure.

  • CPR and De-escalation/Restraint certification required (with training available upon hire).
