Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) Operations Systems Optimization & Support (OSOS) provides business system process and usage expertise across all Operations business systems. Working closely with our teammates throughout RMD Operations and our counterparts throughout Raytheon, we help ensure our business systems are being used efficiently and effectively so they can be a key enabler to the world class execution performed by our Operations teammates.

Job Summary:

The Industrial Software Engineer is responsible for designing and developing HMIs and SCADA / MES applications. Software developed will include SQL based data collection and reporting systems, custom software to automate system design and programming tasks and programming of SCADA and MES software. The primary tool used will be Ignition by Inductive Automation. The Industrial Software Engineer will also be responsible for increasing the knowledge and experience of junior programmers.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Driving modernization and innovation across the enterprise through factory automation, process automation, and data analytics

  • Plan long term and work alongside a complex business function in order to contribute to defining the strategy and execute the tactical

  • Identify analytics solutions to any business challenge

  • Challenge legacy thinking and drive change

  • Act as a data and database subject matter expert

  • Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing user interfaces

  • Develop error proofed solutions and ensure manufacturing focus is on cost, quality, schedule and safety

    This position can be an Industrial Software Engineer II (G07) or Sr Industrial Software Engineer I (G08) based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

    An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master’s is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.

    Qualifications You Must Have:

    Industrial Software Engineer II:

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

  • 2 years of relevant experience in a Manufacturing/Supply Chain environment

  • Experience using one of the following; Ignition software, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), or Human Machine Interface (HMI)

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Sr Industrial Software Engineer I:

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)

  • 4 years of relevant experience in a Manufacturing/Supply Chain environment

  • Experience using one of the following; Ignition software, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), or Human Machine Interface (HMI)

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Qualifications We Value:

  • Proficient in a at least one of the following: C#, C++, Java, Python, SQL

  • Experience / Understanding of automation control systems including PLCs

  • Experience / Understanding of the use of the .NET framework

  • Experience / Understanding of the design, reporting and programming of SQL Server based databases

  • Experience / Understanding of web based development and systems programming

  • Experience / Understanding of formal design methodologies such as Agile and/or Scrum

  • Experience / Understanding of commonly used industrial communications hardware including Ethernet, RS-232, and RS-485

  • Experience / Understanding of commonly used industrial protocols including Ethernet/IP, CIP, and TCP/IP
