Responsibilities

Primary contact representative responsible for providing factual information to the public regarding the Bureau of Land Managements (BLM) multiple resource management programs and services.

Provide information regarding public land and/or recreation resources (campgrounds, hiking, etc.) including map and pass sales.

Provides general information concerning office operations to the public and others (orally and in writing); answers questions via phone, email or other to provide public support.

Serve as collections officer and processes receipts and refunds.

Performs general office clerical work including written correspondence, answering phones, maintaining office records and files, time and attendance, travel, and mail collections and distribution.

Ensures proper application of Bureau policies and provides assistance to ensure that customer needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Provides information on procedures to be followed in filing and processing of applications on the various uses of lands and mineral resources, including data and

eligibility requirements.

Research and respond to a variety of inquiries from the public regarding BLM programs, land status and ownership, recreational opportunities, mining claims, permits, and like issues.

To Qualify for the GS-05 grade level: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is further defined as: Accomplishing routine support tasks in a busy office environment, providing routine information to the public and internal customers by phone, email, and in person, preparing written correspondence, using automation systems, maintaining files and related materials -OR- Completed four (4) years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the prerequisite. -OR- An equivalent combination of the experience and education described above.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements of the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The work involves sitting and standing, typically in a public room environment. Moderate lifting of public information documents may be required. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office building that requires normal safety precautions.
