Oracle Cloud Solutions Architect in Tucson, Arizona
Partners with customers, sales, engineering and product teams to design, demonstrate and deploy Oracle Cloud architectures that address customer business problems. Drives Oracle Cloud customer consumption by accelerating the adoption of Oracle cloud services including discovery, design and deployment.
Engages with strategic customers, builds leadership relationships at multiple levels within organizations in order to design and implement solutions. Works directly with customers to gather requirements, develop architectures and translates business needs into solutions. May implement solutions and ensure successful deployments through code development and scripting. Displays product/application understanding through highly customized presentation demonstrations to customers, and at conferences, and events. Supports customer from Proof of Concept (POC) through production deployment of services via resource configuration, planning, and customer education/training. Creates and distributes technical assets (white papers, solution code, blog posts, and video demonstrations). Serves as a leading contributor for customers and sales on technical cloud solutions and customer success. Identifies gaps and enhancements to influence engineering roadmaps for customer driven features. Leading contributor, may provide direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. May interact with C level. Maintains expertise by staying current on emerging technologies.
Minimum qualifications include: 8 years experience with computer applications and tools required. Ability to travel 50% international and domestic. Preferred but not required qualifications include: Bachelor of Science-level university degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering from accredited university; and/or relevant 8 years technical experience. Advanced degree in relevant field of studies highly desirable. Expertise in and an in depth and thorough knowledge of competitive and industry knowledge in the field of computer applications and tools; System and application design; Implementation of advanced product features; Project management; Solving technical problems with customers in technical environments; Written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; Needs analysis, positioning, and business justification. 8 years experience and expertise in the clear communication of technical information to others through presentations, demonstrations, written communication and consultative solutioning experience.
This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

Oracle is seeking Database Architecture specialists that are part of the Cloud Engineering organization of OCI. Cloud Solution Architects on the Database Architecture team are responsible for helping customers architect the move and improve of their existing on-prem databases to OCI’s portfolio of database solutions. These architects are also responsible for helping customers take advantage of the next generation of Autonomous Database solutions. These architects will be on the leading edge of cloud database that can demonstrate and communicate the value of OCI for customer’s applications.
Cloud Solution Architects combine a deep understanding of technology, applications, industry best practices, business processes and architectural patterns to drive IT transformation initiatives that meet the business objectives of our customers.
Partner with customers to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architecture using OCI.
Engage with the Sales Representatives and prospect to ensure business needs can be addressed with OCI’s go-to market capabilities.
Listen, understand, and analyze the prospect’s business requirements and compose, validate, and present the best possible OCI solution.
Own and progress opportunities through the qualification, definition, proof/evaluation, proposal and closure stages of the sales cycle with attention to timelines.
Define Proof of Concept (POC) / Proof of Value (POV) or custom demonstration scenarios and map functions of OCI capabilities to prospects’ needs and lead the technical team through execution.
Participate in meetings and conferences with customers and partners to serve as a liaison between Oracle internal organizations such as Technical Support, Customer Success and Product Development.
o Engage with Product Management to participate in the authoring of early stage materials (presentations, solution white papers, customer success stories, and marketing decks) and related business solution demonstration scenarios that highlight Oracle’s capabilities.
o Maintain alignment with Marketing and Product Management of existing and future platform capabilities and help drive product innovation.
o Keep up to date with any new OCI solutions. Understand functionality and interoperability of solutions across the OCI portfolio.
o Exchange best practices and share knowledge within Solution Architect and Cloud Engineer Community.

Functional skills and experience:
10 years of experience engaging with industry senior leaders (CxO & Director level) on business challenges. Able to listen and analyze a prospect’s requirements and present to a compelling business value message of a solution.
Demonstrated ability to present functional business processes and challenges into technology solutions to executive levels with a focus on solution selling.
Ability to craft, review and augment POC documents, Statements of Work, and various project plans involving Oracle technologies.
Strong presentation and soft skills required for leading customer facing discussions.
Proven track record in handling and prioritizing work from multiple customers/opportunities at the same time.
Technical skills and experiences:
Significant Cloud Architecture Infrastructure experience.
Ability to walk up the cloud stack (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) model with modern terminology.
Detailed knowledge of architectural approaches including consolidation, cloud computing, virtualization, disaster recovery, information management, big data, Java applications, Oracle and non-Oracle applications.
Experience with some of the competitors in the cloud database market including the offerings of AWS, GCP, and Azure.
Broad and deep experience with technology transformation and significant On-Premise Cloud solution experience in at least two of these areas:
o Migrating complex enterprise workloads from on-premise to public cloud
Critical customer applications that run the entire business
Migration roadmaps and transformation execution
o Experience in multi-cloud migrations and implementations
o Broad and deep experience with Oracle’s database concepts including:
High Availability and Disaster Recovery / Maximum Availability Architecture
DB Migration and Upgrade Approaches
Backup and Recovery
Sizing for Database Consolidation and Multitenant
o Migration of workloads to OCI Database Services including:
Exadata Cloud Service / Exadata Cloud @ Customer
o Data Integration and replication via logical and physical replication technologies like Data Guard, Golden Gate, and Oracle Data Integrator
Education and Certification:
Bachelor level or higher degree in Computer Science, CIS, Informatics, Mathematics, Engineering or other relevant discipline.
Pertinent solution certifications such as OCI, AWS, Azure, GCP or Salesforce.
