Are you ready for a challenge ? PADT is currently seeking a full-time Manufacturing Engineer in our Manufacturing Technologies group.

Summary: The manufacturing engineer will serve two primary roles. (1) Quality inspection and material testing of additively manufactured parts and products. (2) Subject Matter Expert (SME) of polymer powder AM processes for PADT’s 3D printing services and 3D printer sales businesses

  • Develop inspection techniques and procedures to quickly and accurately measure specified feature dimensions and quality of 3D printed parts.

  • Document and maintain records of the inspected measurements and results.

  • Maintain and actively engage with the Quality Manager on the QMS and related documentation.

  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.

  • Develop material testing techniques and procedures.

  • Perform material testing and document test results.

  • Prepare, setup and operate various additive manufacturing machines to produce customer parts.

  • Interface with customers to understand specific project requirements and determine suitable processes and materials.

  • Serve as the technical lead for part inspection, materials testing and polymer powder AM processes.

  • Provide budgetary and lead-time estimates for customer projects.

  • Provide necessary calibration, service and routine maintenance of all inspection, material testing and polymer powder AM printers and ancillary equipment.

  • Serve as a member of PADT’s AM consulting and training team, prepare assigned consulting and training materials and deliver assigned training courses.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials engineering or mechanical engineering is required.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing or product environment; at least 1 year of hands-on additive manufacturing process experience.

  • Excellent written and oral communication as well as presentation skills required.

  • Strong organizational skills and able to provide structure and direction to new processes.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimum oversight.

  • Self-aware and able to influence others outside of the organization.

  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and prospects, often with incomplete or conflicting requirements.

  • Ability to independently close knowledge gaps through formal and informal training and self-study.

    Preferred Skills, Education and Experience :

  • Advanced degree in engineering preferred.

  • Aerospace industry experience

  • Material testing experience

  • Familiarity with metrology equipment and procedures

  • 3D CAD system experience

  • Experience developing a new or evolving quality management system (QMS) in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in new product introduction of an aerospace hardware system into a manufacturing, test, and production system

  • Experience in process development and first-time quality efforts

  • Self-starter that has demonstrated the ability to define and own a process from scratch and roll out the process through adept communication to a diverse team.
