General Description and Essential Functions

Responsible for supporting the Director of Compliance in the management of the Bank’s Compliance Program. Part of a team of compliance professionals who provide second line advisory support to all first line of defense business areas and constructively challenge on consumer compliance related matters. Assigned to a business area(s) as the primary subject matter expert and point of contact for consumer compliance related matters impacting the area.

  • Advises the lines of business, operational areas and Leadership on compliance matters, including regulatory changes, business changes, impacts on new products and services, process and procedure changes, third-party oversight and mergers and acquisitions.

  • Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness for assigned business unit procedures, constructively challenge and/or advise on new procedures.

  • Provides regulatory support and advice to Project Management Office and assigned project teams.

  • Maintains a current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and issues. Monitors legislative and regulatory developments for the Bank and report important compliance developments. Evaluates changes in industry practice and legal/regulatory requirements and ensures that timely appropriate action is taken.

  • Aids in the development, implementing and conducting of compliance training programs. Reviews existing programs for improvements and updates needed due to revisions in laws and regulations.

  • Assists, as needed, during internal and/or external compliance exams such as gathering of pertinent information and/or coordinating responses.

  • Provides periodic reporting of aggregate compliance risk and performance to Business Units, Leadership and various governance committee.


  • Degree in Business, Finance, related field or work equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in banking compliance, operational risk management or a combination of both.

  • CRCM certification is a plus.

  • Proven expertise with consumer protection laws and regulations. Deposit and lending regulations is preferred. This can include Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Flood Insurance, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices, Truth in Savings Act, Expedited Funds Availability Act, Electronic Fund Transfer Act, Privacy regulations, and other federal and state regulations applicable to financial institutions.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret governmental laws, regulations and regulatory guidance.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to summarize issues, problem-solving, propose solutions effectively, and interact with variety of individuals within all levels of the department and the financial institution.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Must possess initiative and be a self-starter.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
