Mayo Clinic Research Fellow - Translational Neuroscience & Aging Lab in Scottsdale, Arizona
Psychiatry & Psychology
Translational Neuroscience and Aging Laboratory (The Geda lab) is an extramurally funded research and education program that contributes to new knowledge in the following areas: (1) Do life style factors (e.g. leisurely walk after a dinner, mental activities such as using computers) impact cognitive/brain function? Do such activities reduce the risk of dementia or pre-dementia state? (2) Is there an association between brain changes due to Alzheimer’s disease as measured by structural and molecular neuroimaging and psychological factors such as depression, and anxiety? Does severe and prolonged emotional distress increase the risk of dementia or pre-dementia? (3) What is it that makes humans change behavior to pursue healthy weight, and promote emotional and cognitive health? In addition to research, the program has an outstanding track record in education/mentoring activities. To date, several students, fellows and junior faculty from the US and Europe have been successfully mentored to pursue a rewarding biomedical research or medical career. The program collaborates with many US based and international researchers.
The program is now seeking an outstanding Post-doctoral fellow for a minimum of 6 months commitment subject to renewal depending on funding availability.
