WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS POSITION?
The Western Region General Liability Litigation Consultant will join a remote 30 person team that is passionate about litigated claims! This individual will facilitate and manage investigations to resolve coverage issues, risk transfer opportunities and liability investigations for claims within states west of the Mississippi River region of the United States. They will partner with in-house and external legal counsel to resolve complex litigated claims involving high exposure General Liability cases involving: Premise Liability, Operations, Product Liability, Professional Claims, Personal Injury, Advertising Injury, Employment Liability exposures and more! Our selected Consultant will consistently operate within our corporate claim standards for statutory and regulatory policies as they plan, recommend, reserve and execute file strategies on a claim. The claim strategy may include claim investigation, valuation, disposition and potential settlement of assigned claims. Additional key responsibilities are as follows:
Assess the exposure of assigned litigated claims
Maintain oversight of claim loss cost management initiatives and effectively leverage resources in a manner consistent with company practices and procedures.
Properly identify mitigation, subrogation and other recovery opportunities
Evaluate coverage liability and autonomously recommend a liability strategy
Demonstrate diplomacy and tact in high-tension situations
Regularly update critical claim data for our internal and external customers
Accurately resolve complex coverage and compensability issues
Expertly contribute to loss cost management by recognizing potential for Subrogation and Special Investigation
Provide thought leadership and support technical expertise with teammates
Build effective business relationships with internal partners and external stakeholders
Minimum of 5 years of Litigated General Liability claims experience
High School Diploma required, college degree preferred!
Understanding of premises, operations, completed operations, product, personal and advertising injury claims preferred
Demonstrated expertise in the ability to investigate, evaluate and negotiate highly complex claims
Strong computer proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)
Excellent communication skills and negotiation skills
Superb time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated passion for delivering a superb customer experience
Possess superior analytical and critical thinking skills
Adept at managing conflict as an opportunity to listen and share information while negotiating a win/win outcome
Expert knowledge of complex medical terms
Comfortable operating autonomously with excellent time management skills
Advanced technical knowledge on how to properly reserve highly complex claims and apply statutory laws/regulations of applicable jurisdiction
