A Civil/Structural Engineer is needed for a leading engineering firm in the Phoenix, AZ metro area. The Civil/Structural Engineer is responsible for reviewing architectural and engineering firm designs to perform QA/QC initiatives, prepare methods of approach in order to solve design problems, and evaluate and modify detailed designs to ensure they meet customer specifications.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, PE License, and 5+ years' relevant Civil/Structural engineering experience with heavy civil or industrial works projects. This is a contract opportunity slated to last into April with the possibility of being extended, and per diem is available for qualified regional candidates.

Evaluate and review 3rd party A/E firms design to ensure they meet feasibility and scope of work defined by customer; Perform QA/QC initiatives
Plan methods of approach in order to solve design problems, conceive and make recommendations for new designs and techniques, and assure compatibility of design solutions with other parts of the existing system
Prepare both conceptual and detailed designs which may include: Civil grading and drainage plans, mechanical and electrically operated water gate structures, and structural bollard details, connections, and calculations
Prepare preliminary cost estimates ranging from preliminary planning documents to detailed designs
Experience level: Experienced
Minimum 5 years of experience
Education: Bachelors (required)
Professional Engineer (2 years of experience is required)
AutoCAD (2 years of experience is required)
Army Corps Engineers projects (3 years of experience is required)
Federal projects (1 year of experience is required)
