Currently, HGL is seeking a Staff Engineer in Phoenix, AZ. The Staff Engineer will be responsible for supporting multiple projects primarily across the western US including multi-year Performance Based Remediation (PBR) contracts, and emerging contaminant (PFAS) investigations and remediation. Responsibilities/Duties The Staff Engineer position will be responsible for supporting environmental investigation field tasks (sampling, well drilling oversight, etc.), remediation construction services, document preparation, and office work under the direction of individual project managers. Must be a team-oriented person willing to conduct a variety of field assignments and write cohesive report sections on the evaluation of investigative and remediation results. HGL is flexible regarding office location (Phoenix, San Antonio, Salt Lake City), but will require the candidate to be available for travel within the western US. Required Skills Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and other MS Office applications. Preferred Skills Proficiency in MS Project and MS Power Point is a plus. Required Experience * Must have a minimum of four years of environmental field investigation experience. * Preparation of work plans and project deliverables. * Field subcontractor oversight inclusive of soil borings and well installations utilizing various drilling methods. * Collection of water, soil, and soil vapor samples utilizing various sampling techniques. * Supporting the design and implementation of remedial actions to include construction oversight. Preferred Experience * In-situ injection and dual-phase extraction remediation experience a plus. * Vapor intrusion field sampling and mitigation experience a plus. * PFAS sampling and remediation experience. * Knowledge of and experience with RCRA, CERCLA, DoD, DOE, or USEPA projects. Required Education The Staff Engineer position requires a minimum of a BA/BS degree in a field related to Environmental Studies such as Geology, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering. Preferred Education MS degree is a plus. Required Qualifications To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift up to 30 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Field tasks may take place in environments which include rugged terrain and weather extremes. The successful candidate will be required to possess or obtain OSHA HAZWOPER certification upon employment and be able to work in various levels of PPE including a respirator, if required. Travel, overtime and moderate physical work will routinely be required. While travel requirements are project-specific and will vary, applicant should have the ability to travel approximately 50% time. Details A pre-hire drug test and physical is required.
