Charles Schwab Senior Team Manager, Managed Accounts Platform Management in Phoenix, Arizona

The Third-Party Platforms & Strategy organization is responsible for managing our third-party asset management platforms – maintaining a vibrant client experience while growing a revenue stream which is vital to Schwab’s overall financial health. This group manages the following products: Mutual Funds, Managed Accounts, ETFs, 529s, Structured Products, and Alternative Investments. We develop new products and services for clients, build relationships with third-party asset management partners, maintain a healthy offering (e.g. by adding new funds or resources), and work effectively with outside firms to build a positive client experience.

As part of the Managed Accounts, Structured Products and Alternative Investments product platform team, as a Senior Team Manager you will have the opportunity to lead a collaborative, high-performing team that is responsible for the continued growth and maintenance of Schwab’s product platforms. These product platforms play an integral role in offering wealth management services to help attract and retain affluent clients. Today, more than 1200 separate account managers, with nearly 6000 different investment strategies, are available through Schwab to individual investors and clients of registered independent advisory firms who custody assets at Schwab. The Senior Team Manager and team are mainly responsible for the onboarding of 3rd party managers and products as well as proprietary offerings, front office and back office activities, contracts and day to day inquiry and issue resolution, along with providing insights and metrics that will inform process improvements, engagement and future product development. As a Senior Team Manager, you will be a leader with passion towards executing as a member of a team committed to providing an extraordinary product platform experience.

He/she will be self-motivated, resulted oriented and can build and cultivate collaborative relationships with both internal and external partners. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring 3rd party managers and products are onboarded in a timely manner to meet client demand, and once onboarded, ensuring proper coordination and execution of changes and removals/withdrawals

  • Managing and responding to all types of inquiries and critical issues from both internal and external partners with a relationship and client service approach in mind to drive a positive experience for internal and external partners

  • Serving as an SME and supporting multiple strategic and tactical initiatives with cross-functional partners from Investor Services, Advisor Services, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Oversight organizations

  • Having the ability to work in a fast paced, detail-oriented, high volume environment

  • Providing creative ideas and solutions that will benefit internal and external partners, your team and will enhance the strategic direction of the product platform experience

  • Taking the lead to identify and influence process improvements and design solutions that create scale and efficiency for our team and the company while working with internal business partners, as applicable, to execute

  • Ensure all controls, processes and procedures supporting all functions are maintained to minimize risk to the firm

  • Creating a work environment that promotes employee engagement by setting clear expectations and consistently providing information, resources, feedback, coaching and recognition that helps employees maintain a high level of performance

What you have

  • Product Management and project management experience that demonstrates ability to manage and oversee multiple facets of implementation

  • Preferred experience directly leading a team in a financial services, banking, or operations role

  • Ability to work from the Phoenix office building

  • Strong motivational and coaching skills that cultivates a strong and engaging environment

  • Proven leadership of departmental or cross functional projects and/or initiatives

  • Strong relationship building and partnership skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to different audiences (written and verbal)

  • Ability to embrace, pivot and shift focus based on changing priorities and/or the business environment and champion innovative ideas

  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and ability to set priorities and proactively solve issues in a dynamic multi-tasking environment

  • A “can do” approach to problem solving and action oriented

  • Proficient technical skills, including knowledge of Microsoft applications

  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk by adhering to department and firm policies and procedures

  • Ability to think strategically beyond day to day operations

  • “Team” oriented

  • BA/BS degree preferred

  • Series 7 preferred
