Oracle Utilities Global Business Unit (UGBU) is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to work with our innovative application performance engineering team and contribute in reshaping the Oracle Utilities SaaS offerings to a completely autonomous, secured and performant micro-services architecture.
As a principal Performance Engineer for UGBU Performance team, you will have an opportunity to contribute towards performant design solutions and conducting performance benchmarks on state-of-the-art technologies/tools. You will be working closely with various development teams to gather requirements, understand how to generate data and design and implement complex performance benchmarks that simulate actual customer workloads and scenarios. You will also be responsible to maintain application sizing artifacts with the results from Performance benchmarks.
Responsible for ensuring non-functional requirements for performance (such as throughput, latency, memory usage, etc.) are met.
Design, develop and execute overall automated Performance Test Plan to validate Load, Stability, Scalability, and Reliability standards of the application are achieved.
Execute Test Plan to meet the overall testing and quality assurance goals of the applications.
Developing automated test scripts
Debug, troubleshoot, and work with the development engineering team to resolve and correct performance issues.
Create and maintain reports that describe performance issues and possible root causes.
Monitor and collect platform level utilization metrics.
Analyze performance test results, and work with Development to identify performance bottlenecks and their root cause.
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in software design and development and or performance benchmarking for large-scale enterprise products or leading SaaS applications.
Deep understanding of technology stacks involved in multi-tier deployment architectures for enterprise SaaS applications and extensive performance troubleshooting experience with the same.
Good knowledge of Java and underlying JVM, Oracle Database Server and SQL/PLSQL, along with strong experience on performance optimization of Enterprise applications and corresponding software architectures.
Strong hands-on knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Perl, bash, etc.
Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Operational knowledge and experience with:
Docker containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, Kafka
Monitoring tools/technologies like Prometheus, ELK stack, Jaegar distributed tracing.
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will be responsible for defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
