This position is part of the Managed Account Product Management & Marketing team, within Schwab Asset Management Solutions. In managing our separately managed account (SMA) platforms, we strive to maintain Schwab’s leadership position as one of the premier destinations for managed accounts by supporting both individual investors through the Investor Services channel as well as third-party registered investment advisors (RIA) through the Advisor Services channel.

What you are good at

The Product Manager will be part of a collaborative, high-performing team responsible for designing and building an outstanding client experience through product management, marketing and field and RIA education. You will support marketing and distribution activities, assist with platform and program enhancement projects, create communications and manage relationships with internal business partners. You will also be a key integrator of SMA activities, acting as a focal point and unifying force for critical partners across research, client segment owners, field support teams, legal, compliance, operations, and more. Working closely with business partners across the firm, you will advance our leadership position in the industry and continually identify opportunities to further elevate Schwab’s SMA platform and services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Initiate specific workstreams related to large scale projects around corporate initiatives, operational integration and organizational strategy

  • Collaborate on a variety of high-impact cross-functional initiatives with team and business partners to further elevate Schwab’s managed account client experience, and ensure a proactive approach to industry trends and dynamic

  • Support the development of positioning for platforms, working closely with your team to outline key features, client benefits and competitive advantages

  • Manage and resolve product escalations from service, operations, retail field and sales teams

  • Establish and maintain proper internal controls, policies, procedures and documentation for the department

  • Manage product collateral, such as internal product sales and marketing information, training, advisor and field-facing collateral and website content for accuracy and effectiveness

  • Support the strategy, development and implementation of new products and product enhancements, including gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with sales, service, retail field and client experience to ensure client experience goals are met

  • Serve as a project manager, helping to prioritize objectives and identify the right strategy and tactics to support business partners’ goals

  • Support the development of marketing and educational content including emails, demos, videos, website content, sales collateral and event presentations for initiatives

  • Build and maintain a strong network of internal business partners and partner with them on challenges, opportunities and solutions

  • Monitor the industry and competitive landscape to ensure that Schwab maintains its position as a leading provider of SMAs

What you have

  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects with short timelines; well versed at connecting strategic objectives to tactical implementation

  • Proven experience in creating a strategic roadmap and vision for teams

  • Self-motivated with solid judgment and the ability to think clearly and form a point of view

  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape in the financial services industry, especially as it relates to asset management and related product solutions, especially SMAs

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to synthesize data, develop compelling recommendations and present to a variety of audiences

  • Extreme attention to detail and strong emotional maturity/intelligence

  • Strong client focus and the ability to think in terms of the client experience and perspective

  • Collaborative skills and the ability to create followership; thriving on initiating, building and cultivating strong authentic relationships inside and outside the group; navigating and activating alignment across organizational silos

  • Display confidence and courage in business decisions, actions and communications with a demonstrated ability to take decisive action when needed, including championing ideas, position or dissent to best drive efficiency

  • BA/BS degree

  • 5+ years product/program marketing experience in financial services

  • FINRA Series 7 preferred
