The Packing Lead is responsible for facilitating the packing operations of evacuation slides. The Packing Lead will day-to-day direction for the packing group to ensure that production, quality, cost and delivery requirements by planning, organizing and directing the flow of the packing and painting operations. Responsibilities will also include, but are not limited to, leading the team, promoting a Goodrich People Philosophy (GPP) Environment, training, ensuring that all packing manuals, production and quality instructions are followed at all times, communicating all issues to the cell leadership, update boards, update information in SAP and issue materials in Data Pass.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable and proficient in all packing responsibilities and technical operations in the area/department.

  • Understanding the proper use of PPE, tooling and techniques in the packing and water base / solvent painting processes.

  • Reading and comprehending: blue prints, production orders, packing manuals and quality standard documentation.

  • Maintain accurate records.

  • Able to navigate SAP, Gold, Autotime, ESQC, Access, DataPass.

  • Independently inspect materials and products and communicate issues with the cell leadership.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position provides day-to-day direction to production employees.

  • Organizing daily floor assignments for team members.

  • Effectively give direction to team members and proactively communicate with other areas and departments.

  • Update and track daily metrics.

  • Frequently audit production and quality of the product produced, perform root cause analysis, and develop and implement process improvements.

Basic Requirements:

  • HS Diploma. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Ability to independently run the packing production area with limited supervision.

  • Ability to problem solve and exercise creativity to develop and/or implement practical solutions

  • Ability to learn and adapt to new processes and programs quickly

  • Ability to evaluate his/her work and exercise judgment

  • Mechanical aptitude desired

  • Must be able to pass and maintain ATF Explosive Clearance

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Working Conditions – Physical requirements and environment

  • Frequent physical movement in a typical production environment with moderate to loud noise levels

  • Ability to access, input, retrieve and send information via computer and telephone

  • Moving, lifting and carrying heavy weight regularly.

  • Standing/sitting all day is a requirement of some work centers.

  • Regular exposure chemical fumes, fiberglass, solvents, adhesives and paints
