Financial Data Engineering: Team Overview
The Financial Data Engineering Team drives delivery of technology solutions for Global Finance & Accounting. The team is building capability of leading-edge technologies involving Data Pipeline, Process Orchestration, Rich UI, API Integration, Workflow Management and Reporting & Analytics
American Express Financial Data Engineering (FDE) team is looking energetic, high-performing and highly skilled Full Stack Engineers to help shape our technology and product roadmap. Come join us and realize your potential.
Role and Responsibilities:
Drive user story analysis and elaboration, design and develop software applications, and test and build automation tools
Own all technical aspects of software development (architecture, design, and development of systems) for assigned applications
Perform hands-on software development, typically spending about 80% of time writing code, API specs, doing proof of concepts, conducting code reviews and testing in ongoing sprints
Drive consistent development practices - tools and common components
Develop deep understanding of tie-ins with other systems and platforms within the supported domains
Work with technical product managers contributing to blueprints, and assisting with annual planning of feature sets
Identify opportunities for adopting new technology to solve existing needs and predicting future challenges
Effectively communicate to internal and external business partners on solution design
Mentor other engineers
E ducation & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required
2-6 years of software development experience with proven hands-on expertise in application development
Design and development using Java, J2EE
Experience with React, Node.js, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, DB’s, RESTful API development and Micro-Services design, Knowledge of Vert.X framework
Knowledge of Oracle, PostgreSQL, or any other relational database, XML and JSON file formats
Knowledge of Docker or OpenShift containers for cloud-ready application deployment
Exposure to Big Data, Reporting & Analytics tool like Tableau/PowerBI is a plus
Continuous integration/deployment in an Agile Framework covering the aspect of design development and testing (SDLC)
Multi-threading programming, Data structures, & web services technology, DevOps, and test-driven development
Good communication skills - able to explain technical concepts to designers, product managers and business partners in ways that are meaningful to them
Strong analytical & strategic thinking skills, Ability to interpret technical /business objectives and challenges
Great attitude and approach towards innovation and transformation in product delivery
Exposure and up to date with industry reference of tech trend and solutions
