Description

Kimley-Horn, one of Fortune Magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For,” is looking for an Electrical Engineering student to join our Phoenix, AZ team for a summer internship.

As an electrical engineer intern, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks, supporting various project managers and collaborating with team members. You will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship, camaraderie, and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.

Job duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Design – traffic operations centers, sensors, message signs, closed circuit TV cameras (CCTV), fiber optic networks

  • Lighting/photometric plan development

  • Power distribution plan development for buildings, lighting, and ITS/control systems

  • Instrumentation and Control systems plan development for utilities

  • Technical specification and report writing

  • Electrical equipment cost research

Position Requirements

  • Have, or in the process of receiving by summer 2022, a BS or MS from an ABET accredited university in the field Electrical Engineering (or related)

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills

  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines

  • Detail-oriented

  • Team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment

  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple priorities

Desired Qualifications

  • Participation in professional societies

  • Applicable internship experience and/or work experience

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, Synchro, VISSIM, and/or GIS
