Job Summary :
Directs the provision of nursing care in the Neuroscience business unit while maintaining standards of patient care. Collaborates and interacts with the world class team atBarrow Neurological Institute. (https://www.barrowneuro.org/)
Responsible for the overall quality of care provided by the Neuroscience nursing personnel. Advises medical staff, department heads, and administrators in matters related to nursing service and strategies.
Interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups.
Leads a talented team of 8 Neuro Nurse Managers. Monitors the operations of the nursing staff and ensures compliance with regulations on organizational and governmental standards and practices. Schedules staff and conducts employee performance reviews.
Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.
Patient Customer Focus: Ensuring that the patient/customer perspective is a driving force behind our actions and business decisions; crafting and implementing service practices that meet patients'/customers' and own organization’s needs. (Focus also includes internal and external customers.)
Empowerment and Delegation: Sharing authority and responsibility with others to move decision making and accountability downward through the organization enabling individuals to stretch their capabilities and accomplish the business unit’s strategic priorities.
Managing People, Projects and/or Tasks: Current or previous leadership of multiple departments in addition to Neuro. Manages collaboratively and coaches others to achieve optimal performance; delegates effectively; praises/rewards contributions; defines clear roles and responsibilities; sets goals and leads initiatives; adjusts plans as necessary.
Leading Through Mission, Vision and Values: Keeping the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront of associate decision making and action.
Building Partnerships and Teamwork: Identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other areas, teams, department, units or organizations to help achieve business goals. Resolves issues and problems, and makes a significant contribution to team efforts.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Clinical Policies and Standards: Knowledge of and ability to use industry standards, evidence-based practice and policies and procedures relevant to function and organization.
Clinical Performance Improvement: Knowledge of the factors contributing to quality patient care, and the ability to influence these factors in a positive way.
Healthcare Business Acumen: Knowledge, insight, and understanding of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately in both clinical and non-clinical situations.
Workforce Diversity Management: Understanding of the business value of diverse perspectives and opinions and ability to understand, appreciate and employ the unique contributions of associates of varied cultures, nationalities, ethnic backgrounds, genders, ages, points of view, etc.
Experience : Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience and two (2) years of leadership experience.
Education : Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (e.g. BSN) or equivalent education and experience and Master's degree in nursing or other-related field (e.g., MSN/MBA/MHA).
Licensure : Registered Nursing License (RN) in state of practice
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Other credentials or modules may be required
Experience: OR experience.
Current or previous leadership of multiple departments in addition to Neuro.
Magnet hospital experience.
