Job Summary

Black & Veatch is looking for candidates that have solid senior level architectural experience across B2C, B2B, B2E, and B2B2C ecosystems. Technology Leadership:

  • Accountable for making enterprise wide digital technology recommendations and support in designing and implementing enterprise grade application systems to drive in accordance with corporate Embracing Digital and Digital Transformation strategy.

  • Assess existing digital ecosystem in the company and develop a comprehensive strategic reference architecture, and roadmap for the digital technology deployment collaboratively with business and IT leaders.

  • Act as a coach for business and IT stakeholders in socializing, formalizing and governing the digital solution architecture

  • Establish standards for design and development techniques for digital solutions

  • Partner with Business and IT leaders to drive business process and requirements into strategic designs

  • Lead the research and POCs for various emerging digital technologies.

  • Work closely with various IT teams to achieve the architecture and deployment objectives for various digital technologies.

  • Work closely with the business process owners, business analysts, and business solution leads for the due diligence on the technology assessment process.

  • Promotes compliance to application architecture standard/principles and frameworks.

  • Actively participate in the digital technologies governance process and support digital technology deployment projects as necessary.

  • Support GRC (Governance, Risk, Compliance) aspects of digital technologies.

  • Maintain the digital technologies roadmap from technology perspective for few identified business functions.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Due Diligence:

  • Minimize technical exposure and risk on projects

  • Heavily involved in research and analysis of third-party software solutions, and must be able to make a recommendation to use third party software or develop solution in-house

  • Proactively identifies and addresses application architecture strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Consultative Experience:

  • Work closely with business process owners, business and IT leaders and project team during scope development and option analysis phase.

  • Work closely with various business functions to leverage digital technologies and creation of innovative digital products and services.

  • Manage the projects and/or solutions to meet client group expectations.

  • Translate business requirements into high level technical / system requirements

  • Define and implement technical solutions to department quality standards.

  • Act as a partner consultant to the project team and be responsible to assess task quality and provide ongoing feedback to project members.

  • Work closely with IT (application, data, infrastructure, security, etc.) Architecture team to define and apply enterprise level standards in solution architecture

People/Resource Management:

  • Lead/Assist Application Development Leads, associates and contractors to understand strategic goals/objectives and translate into actionable plans

  • Actively participate and contribute in various IT governance bodies and work with development leads, architects and/or support teams to lead solution efforts

Management Responsibilities

Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant knowledge of areas S/W engineering, solution architecture, data architecture and data management required.

  • A solid understanding of key digital technology trends and vendor landscape

  • Knowledge and expertise in digital technologies, frameworks and architecture like RPA, BPM, API-enabled integration, iPaaS, AI/ML, AR/VR, computer vision, IoT, blockchain, REACT, Angular, Spring, Spring Boot, XML, JSON, Application Servers, etc. is required

  • Recent coding experience in a programming language such as Java, Python, or node.js

  • Cloud Architecture Experience in Azure or AWS, Cloud Engineering

  • Experience in architecting Web Applications, REST APIs, Content Management Systems, Customer Relationship Management, Web Analytics, Marketing Analytics, Digital Asset Management etc.

  • Experience in Agile development processes

  • Experience in EPC/ENC industry pertaining to digital transformation is a significant plus

  • Experience and understanding of a wide variety of information technology processes.

  • Awareness of data security and privacy technologies and processes.

  • Experience building, deploying and supporting mission critical applications.

  • Experience in building and supporting business cases.

  • Demonstrated expertise in application development methodologies such as SDLC or Scrum Alliance’s Agile Methodology

  • Demonstrated expertise in database administration and data processing concepts.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently research technology and analyze and resolve systems and application issues.

  • Extensive experience interacting with senior leaders and executives.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field is required.

Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Information Technology during which both technical and leadership capabilities have been clearly demonstrated.
