As an adjunct faculty member, you’ll provide program instruction in an online format, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. SEC-520: Integrating STEM Methods for Middle and High School Instruction

Teacher candidates examine fundamental concepts of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Teacher candidates build foundational knowledge on a variety of age-appropriate inquiry-based instructional strategies to teach science, to build student understanding of personal and social applications, to convey the nature of science, and student development for the practice of skills that contribute to good health. Emphasis is placed on developing a deep understanding of the major concepts and procedures that define number and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, and data analysis and probability and to build skills to apply knowledge in meaningful ways. Teacher candidates will build foundational knowledge on integrating engineering and technology concepts in Math and Science curriculum.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include equipping students with the required skill set, facilitating classroom discussions, assessing student performance and preparing students to be successful leaders in their chosen profession. Other main responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Education or Doctorate in Secondary Education or Doctorate in Instructional Leadership or Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or Doctorate in Learning and Teaching or related field.

  • AND valid state teacher certification - Secondary Education (required)

  • AND must have a minimum of five years of teaching experience as a secondary classroom teacher in 9-12 grades (required). Teaching experience must be in the area of STEM - science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (required).
