Northrop Grumman Quality Engineer/Principal Quality Engineer in Mesa, Arizona

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an experienced Mission Assurance Quality Engineer 3 to support the Mission & Quality Assurance Functions at our Mesa, AZ site.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support designated programs and be the quality lead for that program.

  • Integrate contractual and Northrop Quality Management System requirements into all aspects of proposals, contract reviews and program processes and documentation.

  • Create Customer and Supplier Data Requirement List reports in support of program requirements.

  • Conduct labor and material cost estimates in support of Customer / Program requirements relative to quality tasks.

  • Identify and flow down quality requirements in support of contract and business requirements.

  • Perform Quality Planning to include process and product quality plans as required by program data items in accordance with contractual, company and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform supplier and internal part/assembly nonconforming material investigations.

  • Coordinate Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action with the suppliers of suspect products and coordinated inspection of material in inventory.

  • Establish and maintain Quality Assurance programs, procedures and controls ensuring that products and services conform to company standards of excellence.

  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of quality policy and procedures within the Quality Management System (QMS) including performing internal audits to assess conformance.

  • Interface with suppliers in the verification of product design, quality and reliability.

  • Review practices, procedures and processes seeking avenues to improve efficiency and effectiveness and reduce risk to product quality.

  • Interpret customer technical and MA requirements, and ensure these requirements are integrated into program plans, specifications and product drawings.

  • Ensure program contract requirements are flowed down internally and to suppliers

This position may be filled at a higher level depending on experience and/or education.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications for level 2 Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field.

  • At least two years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to apply technical expertise including complete understanding of fundamental engineering principles, practices, and theories

  • Ability to read engineering documentation (drawings, models, specs), interpret drawing dimensions, features, and parts lists, develop inspection plans, and identify critical features

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to understand and work with multiple enterprise-wide systems

  • Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action tools, such as Ishikawa, FMEA, DOE 5Why, etc

  • Previous experience managing/supporting elements of a Quality Management System such as AS9100 or ISO 9001

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as strong interpersonal and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Self-starter and able to work independently through complex technical problems towards an implementable solution

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite

Basic Qualifications for a level 3 Engineer:

  • Includes all of the above in addition to at least five years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing engivorment.
