Engineering Maintenance Technician

job summary:

Plastic Molding Company is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join their team. The Maintenance Technician conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance service. Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service. Qualified candidates should have a high school degree and 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in Plastic Injection Molding).

  • Provide technical interface to Product Development for smooth, efficient transfer of products and processes.

  • Machine repair to including electrical repair, trouble shooting, circuit boards, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, Material delivery system, compressors, and chillers, as well as work on silos 50 plus feet high.

  • Record operational data such as pressure readings, length of stroke, feeds and speeds for use in set-up and preventative maintenance records.

  • Comply with all pertinent OSHA standards.

  • Follow and understand acceptable quality control systems associated with parts and tooling.

  • Establish and maintain preventive maintenance procedures and records for all manufacturing equipment.

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing team for all manufacturing processes, as well as all facility support.

  • Ability to read parts breakdown and machine electrical and hydraulic schematics.

  • Participate in production system and quality system efficiency workshops to support continuous improvement.

  • Give advice on technical specifications of new equipment as well as alterations on existing equipment and facilities -- making sure that manufacturing, maintainability, Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are being met.

  • Participate in the management of the inventory of spare parts and consumables to eliminate downtime of machines.

  • Keep up-to-date documentation related to maintenance.

  • Keep own and adjacent work area clean.


  • 2-4 years of experience in Plastic Injection Molding Manufacturing environment preferred

  • Strong electrical mechanical experience required

  • hands-on experience working with equipment in a manufacturing environment.

  • Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering preferred. Equivalent experience may also be acceptable.
