A vital member of the team includes our clinical nurse navigators who work closely with patients, guiding them through their first visit and serving as a single point of contact throughout their care. We treat our cancer patients with a holistic approach. We are not just treating the disease, we are treating the patient every step of the way. With our Multi-Disciplinary Program, we work in partnership with the clinical piece to guide patients on their Nutrition, Psychology, Radiology, Social Work, Thoracic, GI, GU, all combined within one program centering around the cancer and disease specific needs of the patient.
This position is a brand new addition to our growing team, and will support the overall coordination, scheduling, and organization of patient visits with multiple providers and specialties in one visit with the goal that our patients have a smooth transition and experience. An MA or PCA background is strongly preferred as they may also assist in the clinic.
This position is full time Mon-Fri, no weekends or holidays.

About Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the Banner Gateway campus including Stem Cell Transplantation and comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care. Our capabilities include five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 50 infusion bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient, where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via two way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient care.
This position is responsible for optimizing the experience of patients and families who receive care within the hospital and ambulatory care setting. Effectively interfaces and collaborates with providers and staff to identify solutions to care coordination, involving all team members as needed.
Researches concerns and provides resolutions to patient’s issues and needs, in collaboration with all team members.
Assists with patient-centered care program development, provides intensive specialized patient services. Recommends process and policy changes based on interactions with providers, staff and patients. Participates in selected patient satisfaction initiatives to maximize a positive patient experience.
Supports the administration and leadership of multiple physician offices, assigned outpatient facilities and staff in achieving institution-wide and specific initiatives which support strategic goals.
Provides and maintains effective communications with all constituents both within and outside of Banner Health.
Collaborates with social services to offer advice on lodging and transportation options, and local attractions for patients and families traveling to Banner Health facilities from outside the surrounding area.
Offers assistance with coordinating multiple appointments, utilizing the scheduling systems to ensure thorough communication across the multiple disciplines.
Meets and accompanies the patient and family to their initial appointments, rounding with providers pre- and post-surgery.
Participates in coordination of tumor board, conferences and consultations across the multidisciplinary care setting.
Works independently to provide excellent patient care. Internal customers include patients, staff, and physicians. External customers include patient family and members of the community.
Medical terminology. Medical Assistant Training, Patient Care Technician or Certified Nursing Assistant Training. Two years of health care experience required. Requires excellent time management and problem-solving skills, ability to meet constantly shifting deadlines and timelines and excellent customer service and recovery skills.
Bachelors degree in related field preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
