Northern Arizona University is looking for a Software Systems Engineer, Lead to provide detailed security analysis and advanced technical support of its Oracle/PeopleSoft Financial (FMS), Campus Solutions (CS), and Human Capital Management (HCM) enterprise application systems. Oversees security implementation and is a senior member of the team that manages enterprise application modifications, upgrades, and middle tier support to improve its quality and service. Supervises changes to ensure their successful implementation and increases in system efficiency; may direct lower level staff to optimize the performance and efficiency of the university’s ERP platforms. Modifications to the production systems sometimes require after hours or weekend implementation windows.
Under limited supervision:
Leads effort to install, troubleshoot, and support delivered PeopleSoft Application and technology (PeopleTools) updates to PeopleSoft environments.
Administers and maintains PeopleSoft security and configuration settings on application servers, web servers, and batch servers in an Oracle/Linux/Windows environment.
Provides expertise in installation of vendor delivered and NAU custom modifications and security access changes to enterprise administrative computing systems.
Monitors security access and assists staff across the campus community in trouble-shooting issues relating to security and user access profiles.
Leads internal security auditing initiatives and supports state and institutional auditing efforts.
Serves as primary point of contact with Data Stewards and provides expertise in educating and designing their security decisions.
Defines and maintains up to date documentation for change management processes, procedures, and objectives for audiences of varying technical levels.
Ensures compliance with approved change controls for the Oracle/PeopleSoft based enterprise systems.
Coordinates and communicates tasks with project managers, business analysts, development staff, systems administrators, and database administrators in support of campus initiatives.
Participates with management in planning and coordinating operational or procedural matters to meet project goals and objectives.
Participates in Team Hotline response and supports 24x7 on-call support.
Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field; AND,
5-7 years of relevant experience; OR,
A combination of related education, experience, and training.
- Master’s Degree in computer science or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Experience supporting and configuring enterprise applications systems.
Experience in defining, implementing, and managing security in enterprise applications.
Expert working knowledge of software design and infrastructure tools, processes, policies, and concepts including basic programming & scripting languages.
Knowledge of ITIL change management practices.
Knowledge of department planning for university system/infrastructure growth.
Ability to effectively manage time, balance competing priorities, and work with minimal direct supervision.
Demonstrated problem solving, organizational, and analytical capabilities.
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Able to participate in an on-call rotation with other team members in support of 24x7 enterprise systems including weekend and after-hours work as needed.

In addition, the Fire Safety Report (https://in.nau.edu/police-department/annual-security-and-fire-safety-reports/.) is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus and NAU-Fort Defiance as these campuses have on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
This is a Service Professional (SPF) position. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. If a new employee chooses the ASRS retirement option, participation in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, will begin on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP), which is an alternative to the ASRS plan for faculty and other appointed staff, will begin to participate on the first day of employment. Additionally, the long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of employment.
