The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for assisting in patient care, documentation and supply management. S/he collaborates with the Medical Assistant to support the provider(s) in providing patient care.
Escorts patients from waiting area to exam room; communicates information regarding any extended wait or delay in appointment time.
Takes vital signs and basic historical patient data.
Prepares patients for examinations, assists with examinations, cast or splint applications, minor procedures, and a variety of other medically related tasks within the scope of knowledge.
Instruct patients on urine collection procedures.
Maintains department cleanliness including following procedures for clean up after treatments.
Assist patients with donning/doffing compression garments as needed.
Assist with dressing removal as assigned by supervising clinician.
Answers, evaluates and prioritizes incoming administrative line telephone calls, communicates effectively with callers obtaining complete and accurate information to determine the need(s) of the caller.
Maintains charts and copies charts as requested.
Demonstrates understanding of the Unit's Standards of Care and Practice and Administrative Policies as well as being able to locate Policy and Procedures Manuals on the assigned units.
Focuses on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students.
High School Diploma or GED- Required
Graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program- Required
Certification & Licensures
Current, unrestricted CNA license in the State of Arizona- Required
BLS (American Heart Association)- Required
Level 1 Finger Print Clearance- Required
NAHPG Clinic-Based Staff:
Fingerprint Clearance Card application number- Required upon hire
- Fingerprint Clearance Card- Required within 90 days of hire
