Job Description

Position Summary

The University Marketing Department seeks an entry-level Marketing Analyst at our Flagstaff campus location to support marketing operations, including project intake and building, task coordination, and portfolio health monitoring.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Essential functions

  • Monitors assigned portfolio and resourcing health, and flags potential issues.

  • Helps to maintain marketing project management standards, systems, and processes to support and improve university marketing efforts.

  • Helps maintain and optimize NAU’s marketing project management (PM) system, ensuring appropriate access and functionality to support business and end-user requirements.

  • Produces basic reports with analysis for department management to help the university make informed marketing and resourcing decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in department project intake and vetting process; builds approved projects in marketing project management system, in accordance with department and industry best practices.

  • Leverages current marketing technologies to support marketing operations (project management software, enterprise digital publishing software, email campaign software, spreadsheets, and databases). Provides technical support to the department in these areas.

  • Uses marketing project management system to regularly monitor assigned project portfolios; collaborates with department leadership to ensure overall portfolio health.

  • Provides traffic coordination and resource scheduling support to marketing teams as needed: client services, project management, brand/creative, digital, etc.

  • Coordinates creative and content development and production for assigned projects.

  • Generates monthly and ad-hoc reports to support portfolio health, capacity planning, and production metrics.

  • May be assigned other duties necessary for the effective functioning of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school degree.

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience.

  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.

  • Experience with project management software (e.g. Workfront, MS Project).

  • Experience related to the support of marketing operations (e.g., data analysis, troubleshooting, etc.).

  • Experience documenting process workflows.

  • Experience working in a university environment.

  • Baseline working knowledge of routine marketing tools, processes, and concepts.

  • Baseline working knowledge of marketing project management best practices, including standards, systems, and processes.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check.

In addition, the Fire Safety Report (https://in.nau.edu/police-department/annual-security-and-fire-safety-reports/) is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities.

Salary

$20-$24 per hour, depending on experience.

**The starting salary will be determined by the qualifications of the selected applicant balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

FLSA Status

This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The incumbent is eligible for overtime pay or compensatory time according to University policy. Further, the employee must submit timesheets that accurately reflect all hours worked.
