Northrop Grumman Space Sector is searching for an experienced Project Manager to join the Program Engineering Management team within Launch Vehicles business unit in support of the IRBM Targets Program located in Chandler, AZ. This $1.5B program with annual revenue in excess of $100M is the mainstay of the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Long Range Targets portfolio, and provides both ground and air-launched targets used to test various MDA interceptors. Production efforts are focused in Chandler, AZ; Huntsville, AL; and Promontory, UT, while missions are executed in a campaign style from numerous forward staging areas in the Pacific Ocean.
Role Description & Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Targets Program Chief Engineer and supports the IRBM Product Manager. The IRBM Program Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a cross functional team of approximately 20 people consisting of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality personnel in the successful execution of all phases of the IRBM life cycle, including Pre-Mission Analysis, Launch Vehicle Missionization, Launch Execution, and Post Mission Analysis.
Lead the team to achieve 100% mission success.
Execute project management for IRBM launch vehicles, including integrated milestone schedule (IMS) management, earned value management system (EVMS) management and daily issue resolution.
Provide oversight, technical direction, and guidance across a multi-discipline engineering, manufacturing, and test team.
Manage, control, and administer the successful performance of technical tasks.
Help resolve programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost, schedule and system performance.
Participate in the Configuration Control and Risk Review Boards.
Manage the resolution of component and supplier issues related to these vehicles
Represent these vehicles as required in meetings and management boards with the Missile Defense Agency
Brief senior management on project status and technical details approximately monthly
Candidate must have Secret security clearance
Ability to Travel Occasionally (6-8 trips/year)
Candidate must have a minimu of seven years experience in project management or team leadership
Direct internal as well as external customer interface experience
Demonstrated verbal and written communication excellence with customers and all levels of management
Experience developing project cost and schedules and managing efforts via EVMS
Exceptional leader of a multi-disciplined team
Thorough understanding of design standards, procurement processes and configuration management
Ability to work under limited supervision and complete projects on time and on budget
Multi-disciplinary engineering experience -or- system engineering experience
Perform other duties, as necessary, commensurate with the role of Program Manager.
Minimum of 10 years directly related experience in project management
Earned Value Management System (EVMS) management experience
BS in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
