Family Summary/Mission

Supports the business by recommending appropriate actions, strategies and/or alternatives to meet business needs. Has responsibility for leading/managing all aspects of a project and or program such as planning, coordination, development, implementation including the financial implications while prioritizing work, resources and time. Ensures the end state of the project and/or business operations meets business objectives and that all deliverables and due dates are met. Highly collaborative process often requires managing relationships across the segments or multiple functional areas.

Position Summary/Mission

The A1A Clinical Product Integration Manager will work with the Transformation and Commercial product departments to understand how new innovations will be sold on top of or embedded in the advocacy products: Aetna One Advocate and Aetna One Advisor. The advocacy portfolio covers 100% of the population for both clinical and service needs. As new products target certain segments of the population, the population targeting, workflows, pricing, performance guarantees, and value proposition will need to be reconciled with the current primary product. The position will work with (including but not limited to) the advocacy data scientists, advocacy data engineers, marketing, population health designers, care management team, utilization management team, ancillary disciplines team, behavioral health team, service leaders, and technology leaders to optimize these new product and program enhancements. Example could include enhanced diabetes, oncology, or other condition management or wellness products.

Fundamental Components

Fundamental Components include but are not limited to

  • Work with enterprise product team to determine impact of new clinical, service, or member engagement products

  • Evaluate impact to (but not exclusively) A1A customers’ price points, A1A workflows/ staffing, incremental ROI, performance guarantees, sales process

  • Ensure that we continue to add incremental value, maintain high member experience results, stay member centric, and improve member health

  • Ensure that we remain competitive externally to other advocacy and/ or premiere clinical, population health, or customer service programs

  • In order to understand how the new products position us competitively, work with (including but not limited to) Commercial product, Transformation, Enterprise Intelligence, Office of the Consumer to understand market research conducted and consumer needs in this area. Conduct additional advocacy competitive research as needed to supplement information.

  • Work with internal A1A constituents to understand current state and roadmap, especially the Population Health Manager

  • Utilize A1A TopBox consumer insights to understand A1A-specific needs or insights; utilize A1A medical trend to understand A1A-specific trend mitigation needs; utilize A1A operational reporting to understand workflows and productivity impact

  • Scan other industries for best practices, tools, and consumer engagement techniques

  • Supports integration of new products into holistic A1A model

  • Cultivates relationships with internal and external constituencies such as prospective, new and existing plan sponsors, members, providers, legislators and regulators, brokers, consultants, industry groups and leaders, and internal resources.

  • Leverages in-depth knowledge and understanding of products across functions and market segments in directing the development and implementation of new product initiatives, including product enhancements

  • Directs, evaluates and provides requirements/specifications for use of appropriate business processes and systems to support product initiatives

  • Seek and maintain comprehensive understanding of internal and external environmental influences and competitive pressures to develop and enhance product portfolio

  • Consult / drive effective product offerings to customers to meet organizational goals Understand and track key financial performance indicators to insure effective product portfolio performance.

  • Establish and manage large (or significant) cross-functional development and implementation work groups.

  • Anticipate resource needs, set priorities, establish accountabilities, define roles/responsibilities and manage relationships to secure necessary resources not under direct control.

  • Directs the development of training materials for internal audiences related to new product roll-out.

  • May support sales teams as subject matter expert.

  • Interprets legislative, competitive and industry issues to recommend new products or product enhancements.

Background Experience

Background/ Experience Desired:

  • Clinical experience or population health knowledge

  • Demonstrated excellence in high visibility project management, such as multi-state launches

  • Experience presenting to Senior Executives

  • Experience developing and managing business cases

  • Proven track record in meeting project milestones and negotiating for resources, leading to in-time, on-budget launches

Education and Certification Requirements

  • BS/BA or equivalent experience and 8-10 years of experience related to population health, clinical experience, provider experience, or product development.

  • Proven ability to satisfy customers’ needs and develop alternatives to resolve issues


Onsite with A1A operations, in Phoenix/ Chandler, AZ; New Albany, OH; or High Point, NC preferred

WAH remote available
